The HOTH prices link building per placement on Domain Rating bands: Link Outreach runs $175 at DR20+ to $405 at DR50+, link insertions start around $200 on DR30+ hosts, and managed HOTH X campaigns begin near $1,000 a month, with Earned Media from $3,500 and Digital PR from $1,500. Turnaround on outreach links is about 30 days with a 6-month replacement guarantee. Those are fair mid-market rates. The problem is not the number, it is what the number is attached to: the largest dataset published on link insertion pricing shows Domain Rating barely predicts what a placement is worth, while organic traffic predicts it cleanly.

We own and operate our own publisher network, so we compete with The HOTH. Read this with that in mind. It is also why every figure below carries a source and a date instead of a recommendation.

How much does The HOTH cost?

Link Outreach, the most-ordered product in the catalog, is listed from $175 per link at DR20+ rising to $405 at DR50+ for Platinum Links, with tiers at DR30+ and DR40+ in between. Link insertions are placed on DR30+ sites by default and sit around $200. Managed campaigns under HOTH X start near $1,000 a month, Digital PR from $1,500 a month and Earned Media from $3,500 a month. Rates read from published listings on 6 September 2026.

Digital PRFrom $1,500 per monthPress-led placement programMonthly retainer
Earned MediaFrom $3,500 per monthHigher tier press programMonthly retainer

Those are defensible mid-market prices. Against the wider market, The HOTH's $175 entry sits above FATJOE at $72 for a DR10+ insertion and above Outreach Monks at $99, and below Loganix at $400 for a true niche edit. Nobody in that range is obviously overcharging. The interesting question is what a DR band actually buys you.

What do The HOTH's link insertions cost compared to the market?

Around $200 on a DR30+ host, which is above the market average. BuzzStream analyzed 421,259 sites from a major link marketplace in August 2026 and found the average link insertion sells for $179, with 41,783 sites carrying complete data. So The HOTH's insertion sits roughly 12 percent above the marketplace average, which is a reasonable premium for a managed product with a replacement guarantee attached.

The same study found only 14.9 percent of sites offer insertions at all. Supply is the constraint, not demand, and that is worth remembering when a vendor tells you a placement is scarce.

Is The HOTH worth the price?

It depends entirely on whether the DR band you buy correlates with anything. The most consistent criticism of The HOTH in published reviews is that Domain Rating based pricing does not guarantee organic traffic, and that quality varies inside a tier. The BuzzStream data says that criticism is structural rather than a complaint about one vendor. Here is the average insertion price by DR band from those 41,783 sites:

DR bandAverage insertion price
DR 0 to 9$113
DR 10 to 19$144
DR 20 to 29$188
DR 30 to 39$246
DR 40 to 49$197
DR 50 to 59$212
DR 60 to 69$296
DR 70 to 79$411
DR 80 plus$461

Read the DR 30 to 39 row against DR 40 to 49. A DR 30s placement averages $246 while a DR 40s placement averages $197. The ladder goes backwards. That is not a rounding artifact, it is what happens when a metric can be inflated: sites in the 30s that have been optimized to look buyable price higher than genuine sites a band above them.

Why does Domain Rating based pricing break down?

Because Domain Rating is a link-graph score and the thing you are buying is an audience. Sort the same dataset by organic traffic instead and the pricing becomes perfectly monotonic, which is what a rational market looks like:

Monthly organic trafficSitesAverage insertion price
0 to 10027,722$137
101 to 1,0007,126$227
1,100 to 10,0005,144$259
10,000 to 50,0001,667$332
50,000 to 100,000325$419
100,000 plus355$510

Every step up in traffic costs more than the step below it. No inversions. Look at the first row, though: 27,722 of the 41,783 sites with complete data, roughly two thirds of everything on offer, get under 100 organic visits a month. You can buy a link on almost any of them for $137.

That is the real finding, and it reframes what The HOTH's $175 to $405 is actually paying for. It is not paying for a better link than the marketplace sells. It is paying a managed vendor to avoid the two thirds of inventory that has no readers. BuzzStream's quality tiering makes the size of that job explicit: 97.48 percent of the sites offering insertions rank as low quality, and only 143 sites in the entire sample, 0.34 percent, were both genuinely high quality and willing to sell an insertion.

Is The HOTH good for agencies?

Yes, on the operational side. Reports are unbranded, the product catalog is productized enough to resell without explaining it, and published reseller margins land in the 40 to 60 percent range, which matches the wider agency market. HOTH X starts around $1,000 a month, so a client of almost any size can be slotted into something.

The catch is the same one every outreach-sourced program carries. You are quoting a client against inventory you have not seen, and if you resell across a book you will reuse hosts without knowing it. If you want the arithmetic on what a placement has to cost you before reselling it makes sense, we published the buy-price-to-resale-price table on our niche edits reseller page, including the buy price each resale band needs to clear a 50 percent margin.

How long does The HOTH take to deliver?

About 30 days for Link Outreach, with a 6-month replacement guarantee if the link is removed. That is at the slower end of the market: FATJOE and Rhino Rank both publish 14 days, Outreach Monks quotes 7 days for first placements, and Loganix runs around three weeks. Thirty days is not unreasonable for manual outreach, since the vendor is waiting on strangers to answer email, but it should shape how you plan a campaign. Build the client timeline on the stated maximum, never the minimum.

What The HOTH cannot do at any price

Let you approve the host before your money is spent. This is not a policy choice and it is not unique to The HOTH: FATJOE, Outreach Monks, Rhino Rank and SEOButler all disclose the host after the placement is live, because an outreach agency genuinely cannot promise you a site it has not yet persuaded to say yes. The site gets named once it exists.

Given that 97.48 percent of purchasable inventory is low quality, that is the expensive gap. You are paying a vendor to filter on your behalf and then finding out afterwards how well they did. If you want to run that check yourself across a candidate list, you need each host's real organic traffic, its outbound link pattern and its publishing history, which usually means pulling structured data off every site on the list rather than eyeballing them one at a time.

The alternative model is to buy from someone who owns the sites. We do, which is why you can filter our network by niche, Domain Rating and live Google Analytics organic traffic, then read the exact host article before ordering. Our per-band rates are on niche edit pricing, and the business, SaaS and ecommerce side of the network is on buy business niche edits.

Rates read at source or recovered from published listings in early September 2026. Vendor pricing moves, so confirm on the live order form before you budget a campaign against any of these. Two industry benchmarks for the average paid insertion disagree by more than double, Ahrefs reporting $361.44 against a competing survey near $141, and Adsy's February 2026 study of 52,671 sites found listed prices run roughly four times what deals actually close at. Every published figure, including The HOTH's, is an opening position.

So should you buy from The HOTH?

If you want a mature, productized vendor with unbranded reporting and a replacement guarantee, and your vertical is easy enough that the DR band is likely to be attached to a real site, The HOTH is a reasonable buy at $175 to $405. If your budget is tight, FATJOE and Outreach Monks both start lower for a comparable unit. If what you actually need is to know what you bought before you buy it, no outreach vendor can offer that, and you should be looking at owned inventory instead. The head-to-head between the two cheaper vendors is in Outreach Monks vs FATJOE, and the case against The HOTH specifically is set out on our The HOTH alternative page.
