FATJOE is cheaper per link at the low and mid tiers and carries the stronger post-placement guarantee; Outreach Monks costs more at entry but prices on traffic and niche difficulty rather than Domain Rating alone, and does not lock you into a monthly commitment to get its better rates. FATJOE lists $72 at DR10+ through $456 at DR60+ with a lifetime link guarantee. Outreach Monks starts at $99 per link at DR20 with a 6-month replacement and no retainer. Neither lets you approve the host site before your money is spent, which is the thing most agencies actually get burned on.
We own and operate our own publisher network, so we compete with both companies named here. Read this with that in mind. It is also why every figure below carries a source and a date rather than a recommendation.
FATJOE, at every tier where the two publish comparable numbers. Its DR20+ link insertion lists at $96 against roughly $99 for the Outreach Monks entry tier, and the gap widens in FATJOE's favor at DR30+, where it lists $120. The more useful observation is that the two are not selling the same unit. FATJOE prices a Domain Rating band. Outreach Monks prices a Domain Rating band adjusted for niche difficulty and the host's traffic, which is why its quote moves once you name your vertical.
| Factor | FATJOE | Outreach Monks |
|---|---|---|
| Published entry price | $72 per link insertion at DR10+ | From $99 per link at DR20 |
| Full published ladder | $72 DR10+, $96 DR20+, $120 DR30+, $216 DR40+, $336 DR50+, $456 DR60+ | Starts at $99 and scales by Domain Rating, niche difficulty and traffic. Per-service rates sit on each service page |
| What the price is based on | Domain Rating band, with an indicative traffic range attached to each tier | Domain Rating plus niche difficulty plus actual host traffic |
| Stated turnaround | From 14 days | 7 days for first placements, 21 to 28 days for guest posts |
| Guarantee | Lifetime link guarantee, replaced free if removed | 6-month replacement guarantee on all placements |
| Agency and volume terms | Built for agencies, white label reports, 10 percent discount for monthly spend commitments | Volume discounts, white label reporting, no retainer and no lock-in |
| Pre-approve the host site | No, reported after the link is live | No, site selection happens internally |
One caveat on the FATJOE figures. Its own product page headline advertises niche edits for agencies "from $80", which does not match the $72 DR10+ tier in its rate card, and FATJOE rate-limits automated requests hard enough that we could not re-read the page directly on 5 September 2026. Third-party reviews published this year quote spreads as wide as $72 to $456. Treat the ladder above as the current listing and confirm on the live order form before you budget a campaign against it.
FATJOE's niche edits run $72 at DR10+, $96 at DR20+, $120 at DR30+, $216 at DR40+, $336 at DR50+ and $456 at DR60+, with content writing included and delivery from 14 days. Agencies on a monthly spend commitment get 10 percent off. The pricing is genuinely transparent and self-serve, which is most of why it became the default fulfillment layer for so many agencies.
What the ladder does not tell you is what traffic sits behind the Domain Rating. FATJOE attaches indicative monthly traffic ranges to each tier, and they are wide: a DR30+ placement is quoted against 100 to 10,000 monthly visits. That is a hundredfold spread inside one price. It is not a criticism unique to FATJOE, it is what happens whenever a link is priced on a domain-level metric, but it does mean two links you paid $120 for can be worth wildly different amounts.
Outreach Monks starts at $99 per link for DR20 placements and scales from there by Domain Rating, niche difficulty and traffic, with full per-link pricing published on each individual service page. There is a 6-month replacement guarantee, volume discounts that improve as order counts rise, and explicitly no retainer and no lock-in. First placements are quoted at 7 days, with guest posts at 21 to 28 days.
Pricing on niche difficulty is the meaningful difference. It means the quote reflects how hard your vertical actually is to place in, rather than pretending a finance link and a lifestyle link cost the same to source. If you work in a restricted or semi-restricted vertical, that is a more honest model. If you work in an easy vertical, you are paying for a flexibility you do not need.
FATJOE if you want predictable per-tier fulfillment at volume, Outreach Monks if your pipeline is uneven or your clients sit in awkward verticals. FATJOE's 10 percent agency discount is conditional on a monthly spend commitment, so a slow month costs you the rate. Outreach Monks attaches its volume discounts to order counts without a retainer, which suits agencies whose client load moves around.
Both offer white label reporting, and for a reseller that is table stakes rather than a differentiator. The operational work that actually determines whether a link reselling program is profitable happens on your side: intake, briefs, target pages, revisions and reporting deadlines across a client book, which is why agencies running more than a handful of concurrent campaigns usually end up needing a way to route each incoming client request to the right campaign owner before they need a cheaper link. We have set out the full margin math, including the buy price each resale tier actually requires, on our niche edits reseller page.
On paper Outreach Monks is faster, quoting 7 days for first placements against FATJOE's stated 14-day minimum. One published review comparison found an even wider real-world gap, with FATJOE taking 25 days to deliver while Outreach Monks delivered in three. Treat any single data point like that carefully, because outreach turnaround depends heavily on the vertical and on which publishers happen to reply that month.
That variability is structural rather than a service failing. Both companies pitch independent site owners on your behalf, and cold outreach converts at roughly an 8.5 percent reply rate, with something like 146 emails sent for each link earned. No amount of process removes the fact that a stranger has to answer. Build client timelines on the stated maximum, never the minimum.
FATJOE's lifetime link guarantee is the stronger of the two: if a placement is removed at any point, it is replaced at no cost. Outreach Monks covers 6 months. For a client campaign where links are meant to compound over years, an open-ended guarantee is worth real money, and it is the clearest single win FATJOE has in this comparison.
The limit worth understanding is what a replacement guarantee actually protects. It covers the link disappearing. It does not cover the host site's traffic collapsing, the article being deindexed, or the publisher quietly filling the same page with twenty more paid links a year from now. Those outcomes leave your link technically live and practically worthless, and no guarantee on the market addresses them.
No, with either company. FATJOE reports the host after the placement goes live, and Outreach Monks selects sites internally and sends a report afterwards, with no mechanism to reject a site before the content is written and published. This is the single most consequential thing the two have in common, and it is a consequence of the outreach model rather than a policy choice: a vendor cannot promise you a site it has not yet persuaded to say yes.
For an agency this is where the awkward conversations start, because the client sees the host site at the same moment you do. The usual mitigation is to screen after delivery and use the replacement guarantee, which works but costs weeks. The alternative is inventory the vendor already controls. Because we own the portals in our network, the host article, its Domain Rating and its live Google Analytics organic traffic are visible before you order, which is the whole reason that model exists. Our side-by-side breakdowns are on FATJOE alternatives and Outreach Monks alternatives.
Both sit below market average, which is the honest headline. Adsy, surveying 52,671 sites in February 2026, put the average link insertion at $225. BuzzStream in August 2026 reported $179. Against those, FATJOE at $96 to $216 across its DR20+ to DR40+ tiers and Outreach Monks from $99 are competitively priced rather than premium.
| Benchmark | Figure | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Average link insertion price | $225 | Adsy, 52,671 sites, February 2026 |
| Average insertion price | $179 | BuzzStream, August 2026 |
| Average paid niche edit | $361.44, against a competing survey near $141 | Ahrefs benchmark and a rival 2026 survey, disagreeing by more than 2x |
| Gap between listed and actual close prices | Listed prices run roughly 4x actual | Adsy, February 2026 |
| Share of a 500,000 site database clearing DR 65 and 10,000 monthly visits | 1.37 percent | BuzzStream, August 2026 |
| Cold outreach reply rate and emails per link earned | 8.5 percent, roughly 146 emails per link | 2026 outreach benchmarks |
That last BuzzStream figure is the one to keep. If only 1.37 percent of half a million sites clear DR 65 with 10,000 monthly visits, then any vendor quoting high-DR placements at volume is either working from a very small pool or counting sites with authority and no readers. It is also the best argument for checking traffic yourself rather than buying a DR band, whichever vendor you pick. Our own band-by-band rates sit on niche edit pricing.
| If this is your situation | The better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| High volume, mainstream verticals, steady monthly spend | FATJOE | Cheapest published ladder, self-serve ordering, and the 10 percent commitment discount actually applies |
| Uneven pipeline, no appetite for a monthly commitment | Outreach Monks | Volume discounts without a retainer or lock-in |
| Difficult or semi-restricted vertical | Outreach Monks | Pricing that accounts for niche difficulty is more honest than a flat DR ladder that hides it |
| Links must survive for years | FATJOE | Lifetime replacement against a 6-month window |
| Client insists on approving every publication | Neither | Neither model supports pre-approval. You need inventory the provider controls |
| You need the placement dated to a launch | Neither | Outreach turnaround depends on publisher replies, so no date can be guaranteed |
These two are closer than the marketing on either site suggests. FATJOE wins on published price at almost every tier and on guarantee length. Outreach Monks wins on flexibility, on quoting difficult verticals honestly, and on speed to a first placement. Both are credible, established vendors and either will fulfill a mainstream brief competently. The decision usually comes down to whether your spend is steady enough to earn FATJOE's commitment discount. The thing neither can give you, and the thing worth deciding on before price, is seeing the page your link will live on while you still have the option to say no.
